About

I am a Japan-based writer with a deep love for fiction and the art of writing. This website and publication are meant to share my writings with the world, both in the form of fiction and nonfiction.

In addition to my posts on this website, you can find other examples of my writing here:

I am currently querying my debut novel, with the goal of traditional publication. Please see my pitch below:

I am seeking representation for THE BALLAD OF MEN, a 93,000-word fantasy novel, blending the literary and the speculative in the vein of Rebecca Kuang’s Babel, Haruki Murakami’s 1Q84, and Josiah Bancroft’s works.

The deities have descended over Japan in a rage of clouds and storm. Their eternal song has created a new reality: Those who fall into despair stagnate, bringing dark phantoms to the world, and must be cleansed. Inseparable as children, Noah and Miyo are torn apart in their teenage years. Noah is recruited by the order of monks who cleanse the stagnation and send the stagnated to the deities—the same group who took Miyo’s mother. Miyo, betrayed and alone, goes off to university, trying to live a normal life despite being haunted by phantoms. As the years pass, Noah’s disillusionment with the order grows and Miyo’s hauntings worsen until she finally succumbs to her festering stagnation. Her mass of phantoms erupts over Japan, and just as he is about to leave the order, Noah is sent on a mission to cleanse her. Their journey takes them to an alternative realm, where phantoms and tormenters are both physical and psychological. In order to escape, they must confront their most painful truths: Noah’s guilt in abandoning Miyo, and Miyo’s trauma of losing all those close to her. Failure means losing each other forever—and condemning humanity to the eternal cycle of despair and stagnation.

I am a writer and freelance editor working in the Japanese translation industry. Born in America, I moved to Japan four years ago and have spent most of my time immersing in the language, studying religion, and writing, all of which has led me to write THE BALLAD OF MEN. It is my debut novel. I aim to continue writing novels consistently, with the hopes of making it into a career.
